Ganesh Chaturthi 2020
The Indian School-Second Shift celebrates Ganesh Chaturthi as a symbol of good tidings and well bring.
This year, it was celebrated differently owing to the ongoing pandemic. However the enthusiasm was intact ! Adapting to the new normal, the celebrations took place virtually.
For class 1 the occasion began with the story of Lord Ganesh and what we learn from it. How the festival is celebrated and how this celebration took on the scale that we see it on these days, was also explained including a mention of Bal Gangadhar Tilak who started these celebrations in the community during the struggle for freedom.
The students of class I moulded clay into eco-friendly Ganpatis embedded with coriander seeds. Once immersed, the eco friendly idol would give way to a lovely life. Here students were cautioned about the great harm that idol immersion brings upon our water bodies. They were told to simply symbolically immerse the idols in a small vessel of water, if at all they must, as their contribution to conserve Mother Earth.
