No Exam Policy for Classes 1 and 2' National Curriculum Framework
On 8th August 2025, an orientation session was held at School for the parents of classes 1 and 2 to introduce and explain the newly implemented ‘No Exam Policy’. This initiative aligns with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and the National Curriculum Framework (NCF) 2023.
The session aimed to assist parents with understanding the shift from traditional examinations to a more child-centric and stress-free approach to early education.
Headmistress Ms Sanjeeta Roy addressed the parents, emphasising that the 'No Exam Policy' focuses on holistic development rather than rote learning. She explained that the new approach encourages curiosity, creativity, and conceptual understanding, helping children develop a deeper and more meaningful connection with learning.
In place of formal examinations, School will implement Continuous and Comprehensive Evaluation (CCE). This system incorporates assessment into everyday classroom activities through teacher observations, anecdotal records, student portfolios, and play-based learning tasks. The focus will be on strengthening foundational literacy and numeracy skills through experiential learning.
Parents were also introduced to the Holistic Progress Card (HPC) prescribed for classes 1 and 2. Unlike traditional report cards, the HPC is designed to capture a child’s progress across cognitive, social, emotional, and language domains, offering a more well-rounded view of their development.
The session also highlighted the benefits of this approach in building confidence, reducing academic stress, promoting inclusive education, and fostering a lifelong positive attitude towards learning.
The session concluded with a call for active collaboration between teachers and parents, to ensure that the early years remain a period of joyful exploration and holistic growth for every child.
