"When talent, dedication, determination and sportsman spirit come together, then you get a champion.’’

The students of The Indian School-Second Shift accompanied by their teachers attended the virtual ceremony where Prime Minister Narendra Modi interacted with the Olympic-bound athletes like PV Sindhu, Mary Kom ,Neeraj Chopra and Sania Mirza among fifteen others on 13 July, 2021.

PM Modi appreciated the effort and struggle of the sports people and urged the nation to come forward and support the same. He  shared the struggles and triumphs of the players and said that their examples are inspirational. It is a matter of pride that around 120 athletes from 18 disciplines have qualified for the Tokyo Olympics and India is sending the biggest ever contingent to Tokyo.

The event was attended by Shri Anurag Thakur, Minister of Youth affairs and Sports and various other leaders and educators.

The PM motivated the athletes and thanked their families for their support and sacrifices. He discussed the inspirational journeys of some of our athletes on Mann Ki Baat, his radio programme.

He urged citizens to send good wishes to athletes by posting messages on social media using the hashtag #Cheer 4 India. He reiterated that all the Indian athletes headed to the Tokyo Olympics have worked hard for a long time to make our country proud.

He urged the athletes to give their best at the Olympics and said that the entire nation would be cheering for them.

Our students were thrilled to know more about the lives of these dedicated athletes and were happy to be a part of the event.
