Special assembly on Guru Nanak

The teachings of Guru Nanak, the first guru of the Sikhs, laid the foundation of Sikhism. To know more about the significance of this great Guru and his teachings, a special assembly to observe Guru Nanak Dev’s 550th birth anniversary was presented by the students of Pre-primary Canary on 11 November, 2019.

The focus of the assembly was on Guru Nanak’s teachings that chiefly were, ‘Kirat Karo’, ‘Naam Japo’ and ‘Vand Chakko’. The children  dressed  in traditional attire kurta-pyjama/salwar suit, presented a skit on how we need to  assimilate the simple yet profound teachings in our daily lives. The earnest efforts of the students to showcase the values taught by the great Guru were commendable.

A traditional Sikh invocation was sung by the class choir followed by a demonstration of the customary ‘Prabhat –Pheri (morning procession)’, led by the Panj- Pyaras of the great Guru.
