Special Assembly for Ganesh Chaturthi

On 2nd September 2019, a special assembly was held to share the story of Lord Ganesh on the occasion of Ganesh Chaturthi. Lord Ganesha is God of intellect and wisdom, patron of the arts and the sciences and the remover of obstacles.

Students of PP Canary presented the assembly, starting with the Ganesh Aarti, sung by the Pre primary choir. After the Aarti, students acted out the story of Ganesha and his brother Kartikeya who were asked to circle the world three times by their parents Shiv-Parvati. Although Kartikeya was the faster of the two, yet Ganesha won the race!

A dance presentation on the song “Oh my friend Ganesha” followed. The beautifully bedecked handcrafted Ganesha was carried in a procession by excited pre primers amidst cheers of “Ganpati Bappa moriya!”. The resplendent procession of ‘devotees’ carrying aloft their eco-friendly Ganesha drew admiring looks as it made its way through the School corridors. The students sculpted small Ganesh idols in clay mixed with the tulsi and marigold seeds. Once the idol is immersed or placed in a
pot, the new life would spout.

It was a joyous morning for the students and teachers alike as they came together to celebrate one of India’s most popular festivals.
