Skype classroom on Halloween for classes 2A and 2C
‘Too cute to spook!’
Halloween is celebrated every year on October 31. The tradition originated with the ancient Celtic festival of Samhain when people would light bonfires and wear costumes to ward off ghosts.
The students of class 2A and 2C at The Indian School-Second Shift celebrated Halloween in a virtual classroom with educator, Le Thien Thu from Vietnam.
The educator engaged the students with captivating games such as ' Catch me if you can' and 'Halloween, Hangman Game' wherein they had to choose the right words for the pictures by offering three clues and build spellings by guessing the letters. She was amazed to hear the prompt responses of our students dressed as ghosts, vampires, zombies, and witches!
Le Thien Thu narrated a spooky ghost story ‘The Hitchhiker’ to lend to the ambience of the occasion. The story was about how a man moved to a small town and slowly got to know a few of his new neighbours. Students were excited and curious to listen to the story.
Our students presented a 'trick or treat' song named “On a Halloween Night’ for Ms Le Thien Thu and she appreciated the performance.
To conclude, the students had a Halloween treat in the virtual classroom. The teacher demonstrated how to create bat-shaped cookie treats and monster sandwiches using simple ingredients like cookies, bread, ketchup and veggies. The students decorated their treats to look spooky.
The event was organised to help students pursue learning in a fun-filled manner and encourage them to appreciate differences between cultures and customs and also to make them aware of global festivals and values.
