In-house workshop for Teachers

Caring for the new employee always positively reflects on his/ her productivity and excellence and simultaneously increases the level of job satisfaction. As a matter of fact, the Induction Programme for new employees is deemed important since it constitutes the starting point for an ideal work relationship between the employee and his employer. It provides a motivating work environment.
Keeping in mind the need and importance of an Induction Manual, Ms. Susan Thomas, conducted a workshop on 4 November 2019.
The workshop began with introducing the term ‘Induction’ and asking the new members of The Indian School-Second Shift family to talk about the challenges they faced or were facing in their new place of work. She shared her own experiences and talked about the challenges she had to face in the beginning of her career and the way she learnt to cope as she went along. Challenges thus turned into opportunities.
The teachers engaged in a brainstorming session in groups. These groups were unique because each groupincluded a new member of our School along with teachers teaching different subjects at varying levels. Ms Thomas instructed that each group discuss and design an Induction Manual. She asked the listeners to appoint a group leader to present the manual when it was ready. The time given to accomplish the task was 45 minutes.
The group wise presentation was then held where each group leader presented her group’s points. These contained important rules and regulations to be followed, information about the various School committees, the dress code, timings, the vision and mission of the School, the duties and responsibilities of every teacher, etc. The workshop concluded with a commitment to  prepare a thorough manual
incorporating  the inputs discussed.
It was concluded that such a manual will will greatly help introducing new members of the School family to the ethos of the School as well as continuously remind the old and the new members of the expectations that accompany their positions.
