The Hindi Debate Society of the Delhi Public School, Mathura Road provided a platform to expand the perspective of students through debate. It aimed to guide students to distil and synthesise complex information and to exercise creativity.

The host school organised the ‘Shubh Chaddha Memorial Inter-School Hindi Debate Competition for the students of classes IV and V on 29th November 2023. The event commenced with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp followed by a welcome song. The theme of the competition was – ‘ ’  i.e  ‘The joy of life lies in limiting one's needs’.

Nowadays Hindi is being propagated across the world. The present era is an era of competition. In this context, events from time to time hold a special significance for the continuous progress of our national language, the creation of a healthy competitive environment among children and increasing a love for it.  The small effort proved to be a milestone in energising the thinking power and imagination of children.

The young orators from 12 schools participated, spoke passionately and won hearts by displaying remarkable self-confidence.  Mahin Khan of class 4A spoke in favour of the motion and Katyayanii Mishra of class 5A spoke against the motion. Katyayanii Mishra was awarded the Second position. Her debate was both witty and informative and she kept the audience enthralled.

The judges for the event were, Haryana Gaurav, noted writer, Dr Savita Chadha and Mrs Mamta Singh, both esteemed writers, who declared that they were overwhelmed by the way the children expressed their views. They appreciated the boldness and the confidence of the participants. They also congratulated the students and rightly mentioned that declaring winners is a tradition and all who showed the courage to participate are winners already.

It was surely a memorable experience for everyone present.
