Ganesh Chaturthi is an annual occasion dedicated to the Lord of New Beginnings, Lord Ganesha. Festivals. The festival informs, educates, brings people together, breaks the monotony of routines and give us a chance to re-energise the body, mind and spirit.
Like every year, our students celebrated this festival with fervour. Various virtual activities were organised with the purpose of familiarising the children with the historical significance and the timeless values associated with the festival.
The students of Pre-School presented a dance on the hymn “Shree Ganesha Deva”. They also crafted images of Ganpati Bappa and his favourite modak in clay.

Students of Pre primary and class 1 made idols of Ganesha using eco-friendly products, namely turmeric, flour and roli. Also, a story based on the festival was narrated to the students. Students took a pledge to rid themselves of one bad habit and to keep their surroundings and homes clean.
The students of classes 2 and 3 learnt about the significance of Lord Ganesha as 'vighnaharta' or the remover of obstacles, through a video. The students later made posters and crafted images of Lord Ganesha.
As the famous mythological tales of Lord Ganesha tell, He is a patron of learning, intelligence, the arts and wisdom. Students of class 4 and 5 crafted Ganesha idols with eco-friendly materials easily found at home, in a spirit of being more environmentally concious. Through this students learned to acquire knowledge in a hands on lesson.
The students of classes 6 to 8 were shown a video on Lord Ganesha where they learned the significance of celebrating this festival. They were also told to write an essay on the environmental impact of immersing images of Lord Ganesha in the sea and in our rivers. They were also informed about how Lokmanya Tilak started the practice of the Ganpati festival as a community affair in order to build the spirit of nationalism amongst the citizens.
