Consumer Rights introduced to classes 5-9
You are stronger with your rights!
The Consumer Protection Act was introduced in 1986, and 24th December is observed annually as National Consumer Rights Day. The occasion emphasises the importance of empowering consumers with knowledge about their rights and protections under the law. Consumers should be able to demand quality products at fair prices and address discrepancies confidently, ensuring they receive what they have paid for.
To raise awareness among students of the various activities were organised for classes 5 to 9. Educational sessions were held to inform students about consumer rights and responsibilities, including the significance of demanding quality goods and services. They were also told about how to seek redress for grievances in cases of deficiencies and how to remain vigilant against unfair trade practices.
Through group discussions and constructive dialogue, the sessions encouraged students to act as responsible consumers and boosted their confidence to stand up for their rights. The initiative successfully instilled assurance and understanding among students about how consumer rights empower individuals with the respect they deserve.
In line with this year’s theme, “Fair and Responsible AI for Consumers", students participated in discussions on the role of artificial intelligence in enhancing consumer care and its potential impact on the future.
The event concluded with a strong message, encouraging students to be aware of their rights and responsibilities as consumers. It inspired them to make informed choices and contribute to a fair and just society.
