Classes 7-9 visit the National Museum

On 15th May 2026, The Indian School- Second Shift organised an educational trip for classes VII-IX to the National Museum. The visit was highly informative and gave the students an opportunity to learn about Indian history, art, culture, religion, music, paintings, coins, sculptures, and ancient civilizations.

During the visit, students explored the historical timeline of major civilisations such as the Harappan, Mauryan, and Gupta periods. Important attractions included the Harappan burial from Rakhigarhi, the famous Dancing Girl bronze statue, and the Priest-King sculpture from the Indus Valley Civilisation.

The sculpture galleries displayed remarkable statues of Lord Varaha, Surya, Bodhisattva, Buddha, Nandi, and the famous Chola-period Nataraja. The Buddhist galleries showcased the life of Lord Buddha, Sacred Relics from Piprahwa, and a virtual experience of the Ajanta Caves.

The students also visited the Central Asian Antiquities' section, the Coins' Gallery featuring ancient punch-marked coins and the Brahmi script, and the Mughal galleries displaying Jahangir’s jade pot, miniature paintings, and royal objects.

Other attractions included Thanjavur and Mysore paintings, ancient musical instruments, decorative arts, jewellery collections, arms and armour, and Christian art.

Overall, the trip was very enriching, enjoyable, and memorable. It helped students gain a deeper understanding of India’s rich cultural heritage and raised their awareness of history and art.
