Art Competition at The Hungarian Cultural Centre

The Hungarian Information and Cultural Centre held its annual On-the-Spot Childrens Painting Competition at the Embassy of Hungary, on 12 February 2019. The event commenced on the lush lawn of the embassy on a bright and cheerful Tuesday morning at 9.30 a.m. The competition was open to children of 5 to 16 years. The theme was Hungarian folktales- a common heritage of mankind that reflect the moral values of human beings, their struggles, wisdom and the eternal victory of good over evil.

The event began with a story telling session in Hindi of three Hungarian folktales- The Mayors Clever Daughter, Lizard Princess and The Princess Shoes. Thereafter, the enamoured audience was asked to create imaginative artwork based on any one of the aforementioned stories or an interesting character or any other detail of the tale that interested or inspired them the most.

The popular event saw an attendance of over 120 students. Ten students of The Indian School-Second Shift accompanied by Ms. Farha Khan participated in this prestigious gathering of budding artists. They showed their ingenuity and creativity by painting some of the best compositions of the day.

The Art Executive of Shankar International Childrens Painting Competition will adjudge these paintings in the different age groups. The winners are to be announced in April and awarded prizes and certificates consequently. We wish them luck for the results and hope their artistic expression brings laurels to the School.
