'You dont have to cook fancy or complicated masterpieces - just good food from fresh ingredients.' Julia Child.

On 1st February 2017, the students of Pre-Primary gathered for a hands'-on learning and cooking session on Healthy Food. The objective of this session was to familiarise the children about the nutritional value of the day-to-day food items that they consume and to help them make healthy food choices.

The resource person and guest of the day, Ms. Annie Pudussery acquainted the children with the Food Pyramid. She spoke about Energy-Giving food, Vitamin food, Calcium food, Body-Building food and Junk food. The students displayed immense enthusiasm to answer her questions and had an enjoyable interactive session with her. The students also sang food-related rhymes, like Pat a cake, Food makes you healthy etc.

Children love sweet treats, hence, Ms. Pudussery demonstrated how to make pancakes for our young students. They observed the whole process with amusement and eagerly participated by identifying the ingredients and offering a hand to measure and make the pancakes.

The pancakes are a healthy alternative to junk food as the ingredients, like milk, eggs, oats and butter, are examples of healthy food. The children enjoyed the delicious pancakes with honey and chocolate syrup.
