World Red Cross Day celebrations in classes 3-5

“When we give cheerfully and accept gratefully, everyone is blessed.” Maya Angelou

World Red Cross Day was celebrated by the students of classes III-V on 8th May 2023 at The Indian School -Second Shift. The occasion was observed by the students in honour of the birth anniversary of Henry Dunant, the founder of the International Committee of the Red Cross.

The students of classes 3 to 5 engaged in a classroom discussion on the primary objective of World Red Cross Day, ie , to acknowledge and celebrate the humanitarian work of the Red Cross movement at an international level.

This day provided students with an excellent opportunity to learn about the organisation’s principles, mission and appreciate the dedication and bravery of its volunteers and employees, besides the significance of humanity, empathy, and unity during times of crisis.

Various activities were also conducted in the classes such as poem recitation, poster making, etc based upon the theme of World Red Cross Day for 2023- “Everything we do comes from the heart”.

The day concluded with unforgettable memories. The students thoroughly enjoyed the activities. The experience helped me to learn that we should lend spontaneous support to people in need during various emergencies, conflicts, disasters, and other crises.
