World Environment Day celebrated across the classes

Environment Day is observed on June 5th each year to promote environmental protection. It serves as a forum for raising an awareness of a variety of problems that have a negative impact on the environment, such as global warming, population growth, pollution, and animal crimes.

The Indian School-Second Shift took immense pleasure in being a part of the global festival, World Environment Day on June 5, 2023. This day is specially observed keeping in mind the theme of the year ‘Only One Earth’, through several activities conducted by the students.

Pre primary students learned how to handcraft a variety of animals, including birds, deer, water, flowers and more. All students participated enthusiastically in this activity.

The Pre schoolers were taught to dance while being taught the importance of water conservation using the hymn “Jal Jeevan hai, Jeevan Jal”.

Through tale narrated by the teachers and a craft activity that highlighted ways to improve our planet, Class 2 learned the significance of this occasion.

In honour of World Environment Day, students of classes 3 to 5 made informative posters illustrating the state of our planet today. This was followed by a discussion about how to protect it for the coming generations. 

The students of classes 6 and 7 danced to the rhythm of "Dharti Ka dil Kya bole Dhak Dhak '' (Song of Mother Earth) which emphasised the value of life on Earth.

The students of classes 8 through 10 assimilated the theme through Shri Adi  Shankaracharya’s Sanskrit classic, “Ganga Stotram,” an homage to the sacred river Ganga. 

With this ‘Only One Earth’ campaign, the young minds learnt the importance of segregation of the different types of waste and thereby the importance of protecting the environment. All the activities contributed to their holistic development.
