World Day of Social Justice activities

World Day of Social Justice is observed on February 20 every year to encourage people to look at how social justice affects poverty eradication. The occasion reflects on the significance of social justice for world peace and security. It also focuses on the goal of achieving full employment and support for social integration.
On 26 November 2007, the UN General Assembly declared that starting from the 63rd session of the Assembly, 20 February will be celebrated annually as World Day of Social Justice. It must be the responsibility of the privileged to ensure that we can create a just world where social justice is a norm. The theme for 2023 is “Overcoming Barriers and Unleashing Opportunities for Social Justice.”
The students of The Indian School-Second Shift participated in various activities on the occasion.
The students of classes 5 and made posters based on the symbol of justice. They also shared their understanding of social justice in the classroom and pledged to uphold the ideals of social justice.
Class 7 conducted a debate on the topic. It helped acquaint the students with social justice and its importance in attaining peace, equality, and prosperity.
The students of class 8 made tent cards to showcase facts about social justice and the unfortunate issue prohibiting millions of individuals from living a fair life. It engrained an understanding of practicing equality amongst students.
The objective of this activity was to make students aware of the significance of social justice in the overall development of an individual’s life and to help children understand its various aspects. The children participated enthusiastically in the activities as they assimilated the concept of equality.
