Visit to the World Book Fair, classes 46
The chatter of students reverberated through the hallways of Pragati Maidan that were lined with continuous stalls of booksellers. It was a winter afternoon on 12 January 2018, when students of classes 4, 5 and 6 set out on a School trip to the book fair.
Books of diverse genres and languages greeted the children from the shelves, as the book lovers and ardent readers, sighted the abundance. The wide variety of books not only excited them but also left them a bit overwhelmed because they couldnt decide which books to purchase and which ones to drop!

The books ranged from mind-boggling science to boundlessly imaginative fiction. Each title seemed more attractive than the last. The books from different countries were the Stars of the Day. Each country looked upon fiction and reality with a different and unique point of view. The Nepali book stall was one of the most interesting stalls, as it had a display of books from the Netherlands, Iran, Iraq and many more countries.
The children also had a hands- on experience of virtual reality and science experiments. They chose from making a snow kit, making a slime kit etc. They participated enthusiastically in a quiz competition organized by MBD Publishers. The winners were Anshuman Singh ( class IV), Sarthak Ghosh ( class V), Tamojit Nandi (V) and Tanmay Sharma ( VI). They were extremely happy to collect their prizes.
Educational visits to such exhibitions motivate the children and help them build bonds with books. The children returned to School contented with their numerous books in hand to read.
