Kiran Nadar Museum of Art represents a wonderful diversity of individual artists who have left or are leaving an imprint on our country and culture. The Indian School-Second Shift in collaboration with the KNMA organised a series of online workshops for students of classes 3 to 8. These intended to engage students into an understanding of the contexts and content of the artworks on display.
The students of classes 3 and 6 attended the workshop on 4 September 2020 at 11 a.m. This was conducted by resource person Ms Saloni Agarwal. The children learnt how to make stamp cards using natural objects like leaves and sticks.
The second day of the workshop, 8 September 2020 was about Still Life Collage, an art form inspired by the artwork of an Indian artist Late Mr Benode Behari Mukherjee. It was attended by students of classes 5 and 8 from 11:00 a.m. Ms Agarwal explained the meaning of the Impressionist style of art, which was incorporated by students in their craft.
The final workshop on Geometrical Landscapes, held on 10 September 2020, was assisted by Ms Rinilita Biswas. She demonstrated the ways in which students could draw scenes using basic geometrical shapes. It was a great way of integrating math with art.
These workshops not only engaged the students but also complemented the curricula in art, history, social studies, mathematics and language arts. It allowed students to create an original piece of art inspired by the museum artwork.
