Teacher workshop on curriculum and pedagogy as prescribed by NEP 2020
To orient the teachers with the importance of a holistic, integrated, and engaging curriculum and pedagogy as per the new education policy, The Indian School conducted an informative session on 12.9.2023.
At the workshop, the need for adopting diverse teaching styles and an interdisciplinary approach to provide students with critical thinking skills and experiential learning, was emphasised. The session commenced with an introduction and discussion about curriculum and pedagogy and their purpose for the all-round development of learners.
The workshop featured a detailed discussion of Gardner's Theory of Multiple Intelligences, along with a healthy debate on how gender affects learning styles. The session analysed the objectives of assessments and evaluations and delved into the methods of assessing and evaluating students of different age groups. Teachers were appraised about various tools of assessment like learning environment, parents and community.
To make the session engaging and interesting, the teachers participated in a group activity using pictures from the newspaper. They were to weave a story based on the set of pictures given to them, and the most innovative story from each group was narrated.
The workshop proved to be a great learning experience for all the participants, who gained a deeper understanding of how to design effective lesson plans and improve their teaching techniques.
