Teacher workshop on 21st Century Skills

“Today's youth, born in the 21st century, are going to carry India's development journey forward till the 100th year of Indian independence. That is why skill development of the youth of this new generation is a national need; it is the foundation stone for a self-reliant India.”  Shri Narendra Modi

Dr Alka Mahajan's workshop on 21st Century Skills, conducted on May 27, 2024, in the School auditorium, brought together the teachers of our School to discuss the essential competencies that students need to thrive in today's rapidly changing world.

With an emphasis on lifelong learning, Dr Mahajan, noted academician and psychotherapist, urged educators to become holistic facilitators who nurture diligent, unique, and resilient learners. She highlighted the importance of caring for students, effective communication, collaboration, critical thinking, creativity, and connection – the six Cs essential for modern education.

During the session, teachers were invited to share their personal definitions of 21st-century skills and recount inspiring stories from their own experiences. This collaborative approach fostered a supportive environment where educators could exchange mental wellness tips and strategies to enhance student well being. Dr Mahajan emphasised that small acts of kindness and recognition can significantly impact students, reinforcing their sense of worth and potential.

The workshop underscored the necessity of investing in oneself and fostering a positive mindset. "Be who you are. You are special. It's okay not to be okay," Dr Mahajan reassured attendees, advocating for mental wellness and self acceptance. Her message resonated deeply, encouraging participants to wake up each day, ready to conquer the world.

In conclusion, the session was a profound reminder of the vital role that educators play in shaping the future. By integrating the six Cs in their teaching practices, teachers can equip students with the skills needed to navigate and excel in the 21st century. Dr Mahajan's insights and encouragement provided a blueprint for creating a more inclusive, supportive, and dynamic educational environment.
