Special assembly on Independence Day- Pre primary department
At the stroke of the midnight hour, when the world sleeps, India will awake to life and freedom. A moment comes, which comes but rarely in history, when we step out from the old to the new, then an age ends and when the soul of a nation, long suppressed, find utterance. So said Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru on the eve of Indias Independence.
We pay homage to countless our freedom fighters as we celebrate Indias 70years of Independence from British rule.
The children of Pre-School and Pre-Primary observed this important anniversary with a special assembly on 9th August, 2017.
The programme commenced with the patriotic songs Saagar ki dhaara and Ek do ek do badhte kadam sung by the young choir. Dressed in saffron, white and green, the tiny tots stood upright as they sang with pride.
Our little speakers then spoke a few lines each to explain the significance of the historic day. The audience listened intently.

In the same spirit, a group dance on the song Hai Tujhe Salaam India was presented by our able dancers. It was a proud moment to watch the students softly match step to rhythm in a touching reverence to the tricolour and our brave countrymen on our borders.
The little audience sat engaged as their teacher Ms. Shikha Yadav told the story of how our country found its freedom, her national symbols, the significance of the three colours of the national flag. She also took the opportunity to tell the children about the recent changes in our government like the election of the new President of India etc.
The assembly concluded with everyone joining in to sing aloud Vande Mataram and the national anthem.
Ms. Anjum Tandon.
