Special Assembly on EID
On the 30th of July 2014, The Indian School-Second Shift celebrated Eid-Ul-Fitr with great enthusiasm. The festival of Eid symbolises virtuousness, peace and brotherhood. A special assembly was organised to convey the significance of this pious festival to the students.
Role play was used in skit format to depict the spirit of the celebration. A mock mela was enacted and the children played visitors, dressed in their best and going from stall to stall buying toys, sharing festival sweets and enjoying themselves on the merry-go-round. They were carrying their precious 'eidi' or cash gifts handed to them by members of the family at home. Of course they planned to spend some of it on themselves and possibly the rest to buy small gifts for their loved ones.

We watched in joy as the children mingled and become a part of society and its festivals with prudence. Multiple values also quietly got reinforced even as the mela made for enjoyment. The values of respect for diversity, compassion, sharing, brotherhood, etc.
