Special Assembly by Primary for Republic Day

We salute those courageous men and women who sacrificed their lives for the freedom of our country

India's 68th Republic Day was celebrated with pride and patriotism in the School auditorium by the primary classes on 27th January, 2017.

Dhairya of class 4 and Mehar of class 5 as comperes for the event, explained the significance of the occasion and why it is observed. Neha of class 4 spoke about the role played by the constitution-makers, with particular reference to Dr. B.R. Ambedkar.

The audience then watched a recreated scene of Rajpath, with three children dressed as the dignitaries-the President of India (Tanmay of class 5), Prime Minister (Nikunj of class 4) and the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, chief guest for this years Republic Day parade (Sarthak Class 3). A band of class 2 students dressed as officers of the army marched across the stage as the President took the salute. The audience cheered as the President handed over medals of bravery to children being recognised for their exceptional acts of valour.

The children of class II attired in ethnic costume wished the audience in diverse languages conveying the message of Unity in Diversity. The celebration continued with a dance presentation by students of classes 4 and 5 that showcased the extraordinary courage displayed by the Indian army during the Kargil war.

Alvira of class 4 spoke about the issue of old age and how the aged are often neglected in our society. The students of class 4 also staged a street play on taking care of our elders.

The assembly concluded with a pledge to take better care of our elders. Finally everyone joined to sing the national anthem.
