Seed Rakhi making in class 2
“Someone's sitting in the shade today because someone planted a tree a long time ago.” – Warren Buffett
Keeping the above thought in mind, a craft activity was conducted by students of class 2 on 28th August, 2023 wherein, the students made rakhis using seeds. It was an initiative under the Citizenship Programme of the School.
The students used recyclable materials like tissue paper, cotton threads, ribbons, colours and seeds of different varieties to make the rakhis. The teacher explained the importance of trees and why we need to plant them. The students made colourful rakhis that were beautiful and eco-friendly. The students made drawings on tissue paper and coloured them with colours of their choice. They wrapped the seeds in the coloured tissue paper and pasted them on the ribbon or mauli thread to make beautiful rakhis. These rakhis can be placed in soil in the damp tissue for the seeds to germinate.
The students thoroughly enjoyed this activity as it involved learning with hands-on experience. It focused on making them aware about the need of planting more trees.
