Road Safety Week Activities
‘The future of the safety movement is not so much dependent upon the invention of safety devices as on the improvement of methods of educating people to the ideal of caution and safety”- Walter Dill Scott
National Road Safety Week was observed from 23 to 27 January 23 at The Indian School-Second Shift to mark the importance of road safety. The students were familiarised with traffic rules and safety measures that ought to be followed in order to maintain safety on the roads.
To mark the significance of the day, various activities were conducted, to sensitise students about the importance of safety while driving and walking on the road. Posters on traffic signs were made by the students of classes Pre school to V. Students learned about the rules and sign boards on the road.
To spread awareness, classes VI-VII wrote inspiring slogans. The students of classes VIII- IX engaged in an interactive classroom discussion on spreading the message “Road safety is our safety”. They were told about the consequences of over speeding, signal jumping, not wearing seat belts or helmets and many other wrong practices on the road.
The activities were aimed at making the students understand the importance of raising public awareness at all levels, acting responsibly, understanding traffic rules and following them to ensure their own safety and that of others. The students participated with a lot of enthusiasm.
“Safety is not just a slogan, it’s a way of life.”
