Recognition Day 2015- 2016
"Don't judge each day by the harvest you reap but by the seeds that you plant." - Robert Louis Stevenson
Recognition Day, 16th July 2016, was a highly-anticipated day on the academic calendar of The Indian School-Second Shift. Like every other Recognition Day, it celebrated the the culmination of all the hard work put in by students through the academic year. It is an occasion to flag them off further on the road of excellence, teaching them to aspire, achieve and overcome, besides inspiring fellow under-achievers to strive harder.
The well-attended event witnessed an enthusiastic gathering of proud parents and teachers. It was graced by Vice Chairperson, Dr. Nayana Goradia, Principal, Ms. Tania Joshi, Head Teacher, Ms. Susan Thomas and Secretary- PTA Ms. Aban GAndhi. The hosts for the day were Ms. Charul Varma and Ms. Srishti Bedi.
The Recognition Day ceremony commenced with the Indian music choir reciting the Gayatri Mantra and some select shlokas as an invocation. The prayer lent a blissful breeze of solemnity to tue assembly. This was followed by a welcome song from Ghana by the Western music choir of the Pre Primary.
Next, Head Teacher, Ms. Susan Thomas welcomed the gathering by sharing her thoughts on the core value of recognition and that pat on the back . Principal, Ms. Tania Joshi congratulated the children with her encouraging words.
Next was the much-awaited prize distribution for classes Preschool to III for session 2015-2016. Certificates were awarded in various categories of recognition namely, Scholastic Achievement, Music, Yoga, Skating, Aerobics, Art, Spoken English, Marked Improvement, and Overall Excellence amongst some others. A scintillating Happy Dance followed the prize distribution, wherein the children looked utterly endearing as they jiggled and-wiggled to the peppy music! Next was an intriguing display, Saviors of the Planet, by our young participants of classes 1 and 2, who role/ played to depict the air, food, water, electricity, trees, and the Earth, as they inspired us to defend the planet. These little ones made us think about the resources we use, and reminder us to recycle, re-use and reduce.
Ms. Srishti Bedi offered a vote of thanks and finally the School choir concluded the programme with the School Song.
The occasion was not over yet!
More was in store for the parents and children alike, as, at 3.15 pm, was the Summer Project Exhibition where the projects of the children prepared during the summer vacation were placed on display for the parents to see! Parents thronged the classes in impressive numbers to see the work of their wards and vigorously clicked pictures of the joyous exhibits. It was indeed a rewarding experience to see the handiwork of the students, even as they were themselves busy trying to spot their own special creation amidst the collection!
The evening ended with twinkling eyes and jolly faces looking forward to more exciting activities in the coming months.
