Rabindranath Tagore was a man of exceptional literary and artistic accomplishments. He played a leading role in the Indian cultural renaissance and came to be recognised as one of the architects of modern India.
Tagore is renowned for his contribution to the field of Bengali literature and politics. His poems, short stories, songs, plays, and novels are still deeply revered.He was the first non-European to receive the Nobel Prize in 1913 for his contribution to the world through literature.
The Indian School-Second Shift celebrated the 162th birth anniversary of Rabindranath Tagore on 9 May, 2023. The students of class VI sang the famous "Ekla Chalo Re" and understood it's great meaning, which emphasises on the need to be courageous enough to take a stand, even if alone. The song exhorts listeners to continue their journey despite abandonment or a lack of support from others.
Ms. Richa, dance teacher, choreographed the song "Momo Chitte Niti Nritye" for the students of class VII, through which they paid a tribute to the Bard of Bengal.
In the guidance of Mr. Rupinder, music teacher , the students of class VII and VIII performed a song titled "Teri awaz par koi na aawe", a popular creation by Tagore. The song remains relevant and path-illuminating even today.
Class IX students prepared a dance performance on a song titled "Aji Basanta Jagrata Dware", a song that celebrates the spring, beautifully written by Gurudev Rabindranath.
The students celebrated the day with great joy and enthusiasm.The enduring values enshrined in the compositions of Rabindranath were thus passed on to the students, alongwith the inculcation of pride in our rich literary and cultural heritage.
