Pre-school soaks in Independence Day fervour

The Pre-school classes at The Indian School-Second Shift celebrated Indias 69th Independence Day on 13th August, 15 in vigour and patriotic fervor. The classes and the the School corridors were ablaze with the colours of the national flag as the theme for Independence Day was observed with joy and great enthusiasm. The same could be seen in a special assembly conducted by the pre-schoolers to celebrate the day. Head Teacher, Ms. Susan Thomas graced the occasion with her presence. The young audience sat engrossed while our confident comperes, Ms. Upasana Bhattacharya and Ms. Kritika Negi regaled them about how our country took freedom. " Indians are always full of patriotism, be it for cricket, hockey or asking the British to "Quit India"! To keep alive the flame of patriotism, the children dressed up in saffron, white and green and performed a foot-tapping dance to the song, 'Hum Indiawale. This energy-packed performance enthralled one and all energised everyone on the occasion. Adding to the atmosphere of national pride, our little students dressed up as fearless freedom-fighters namely, Subhash Chandra Bose, Rani Laxmibai, Lal Bahadur Shastri, Chandra Shekhar Azad, Bhagat Singh, Mahatma Gandhi, and Bal Gangadhar Tilak. Our own freedom-fighters 'fearlessly' spoke their lines too! The assembly concluded with Vande Mataram, followed by the national anthem, both sung in chorus by the students and their teachers. In the classrooms, students did craft based on the theme of the occasion, as well as wore tricolor badges which read Proud to be an Indian, I Love My India, and East or West, My Country is the Best. Undoubtedly no spirit remained unignited! By Ms. Kritika Negi.
