The Indian School and The Indian School-Second Shift celebrated Pre primary Annual Day on 25th February, 2023. In line with this year’s School theme- ‘ Reclaiming our Planet’, the event was titled ‘Circle of Life’ showcasing how we must ensure that wildlife and humans always live in harmony with nature.
The event commenced as Shaurya Fulfagar and Shiwini Prakash of class 8 invited Principal, Ms Tania Joshi to welcome the parents. She appreciated the students, their parents and the teachers for their effort in inculcating the precious virtues of humankind amongst the young students.
To inaugurate the event, Dr (Ms) Nayana Goradia, Member of the School Managing Committee and PTA Vice President, Ms Tina Kapoor released colourful balloons into the Spring sky.
A musical performance marked the onset of performances. Thirty two students presented an instrumental symphony of varied instruments to transport the audience on a rhythm, as it were.
A young choir paid homage to Mother Earth as it presented a medley of songs composed at School.
Next was the drama, titled, ‘Circle of Life’, showcasing the bliss of living creatures, now threatened by modern life. There is an extinction of several species and the fear of the anniliation of the natural habitat and driving the biodiversity to doom if not checked urgently. The plot was beautifully mounted with dialogues and dance, in an exciting kaleidoscope of costume. The scores of small children on stage playing their parts to perfection, was a visual feast which the adoring parents lapped up.
A spectacular finale reiterated the mission to 'preserve and protect' in song and music. The animals, the trees, the water bodies and the flora and fauna felt safe once more as the children promised to do what it takes to conserve their bounty.
A standing ovation and happy tears of pride spared none in the audience as the participants and their teachera took a bow. The poise of the participants and the poignant plot had simply taken the breath away!
The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Ms Joshi. She thanked the parents and the teachers for the collaboration which enabled the children to give their best.
The concert extended into a Spring carnival so that everyone could mingle on the magical morning over scrumptious refreshments, candy, balloons and games. A citizenship programme counter laden with the products of shramdaan was open for those who wished to buy- to complete the celebration with a thought for those less lucky.
