Police Commemoration Day activities

On October 21, 1959, 20 Indian soldiers were attacked by Chinese troops in Ladakh and 10 Indian policemen lost their lives. Another 7 were imprisoned.

After a month, on November 28, 1959, Chinese troops handed over the dead bodies of the martyred policemen and since then, October 21 has been observed each year as Police Commemoration Day. It is celebrated to motivate and pay homage to police personnel across the country who perform their duties so that we stay safe.

To salute the spirits of the police force, its families and the brave policemen who lost their lives, The Indian School- Second Shift observed Police Martyrs’ Day on 18 October, 2022. Various activities were carried out from classes 4 to 9 with heartfelt tributes for the braveheart cops.

On this day, the students of classes IV and V expressed their gratitude to our police personnel by writing thank you notes and making posters depicting their valour and gallantry. Through a brief classroom discussion, students  acknowledged the outstanding efforts by our police forces in preserving law and order, and assisting the population at large, in times of need.

Students of class VI wrote slogans to salute the police forces and brave police martyrs who lost their lives fighting for the nation. They also undertook a group discussion about the committed policemen who are taking protecting us from all security threats.

Students of classes VII to IX participated in various activities such as singing songs of glory, poster making and sketching to observe Police Martyrs’ Day. They also observed two minutes of silence to remember those who lost their lives.

Police personnel place duty first and their personal comfort last. The students learnt and realised that the public always feels protected when the policeman is at hand  The activities concluded with a smart salute all the brave policemen and a shout out- “Jai Hind”.
