Parents Day celebrations (PS class 3)

“One of the greatest titles in the world is parent and one of the biggest blessings in the world is to have parents to call mom and dad.”  – Jim DeMint

Parents’ Day is that day of the year when children express their heartfelt feelings and gratitude to their parents and thank them for all that they have done. It’s the parents who indulge their children through the year, but Parents’ Day is one of a rare day when children get the opportunity to showcase their love, care and affection for their parents.

This day was officially declared Parents’ Day in 1994 when the former US President, Bill Clinton signed a law which states that Parents’ Day is for “recognising, uplifting and supporting the role of parents in the rearing of children.”
Every year, National Parents' Day is celebrated on the fourth Sunday of July.

This year, the special day was celebrated on 24 July to cherish the love that our parents have for us and the unsaid sacrifices that they make through their lives.

Every day is dedicated to parents and their contributions in our life, but 24 July is meant to be more special – just how our parents’ love is for us! Students at The Indian School – Second Shift celebrated this day by engaging in activities meant to honour their parents.

The tiny tots of Pre School made greeting cards and sang a song, 'Thank you Mommy and Thank you Daddy' for their parents.

The young ones at Pre Primary participated in a story telling session which reiterated that parental love is the only love that is truly selfless, unconditional and forgiving. As a follow up activity, they made beautiful headgear depicting a hand with flowers. They looked adorable as they walked back from School with a bright smile on their faces.

The students of class 1 made a short speech by turn and dedicated their words of praise to their parents in their own unique ways. They made cards with ear bud painting and wrote loving messages for their guardian angels.

The students of class 2 made picture greeting cards for their parents. They pasted their a photograph of their parents on colour sheets and wrote the qualities that they would like to imbibe from them.

Class 3 students spent quality time with their parents, playing various indoor games like carrom, chess, musical chairs and other board games. Without our parents, none of us would be where we are today. Although we may not always see eye-to-eye, the love and wisdom they instill in us are some of the things that can never be forgotten!

Through these activities, the children expressed how blessed they are to be born in amazing families and to have such loving parents in their lives.
