Off we go to the Traffic Park! Preschool Excursion

Our preschoolers were taken to the Traffic Training Park located at Baba Kharak Singh Marg on 9th September 2016, for an educational yet fun-filled visit. The objective behind this excursion was encouraging our little ones to learn basic road safety rules the fun way, thus initiating safe road user behaviour in them. The Traffic Training Park is a setup functioning under the aegis of Delhi Traffic Police. However, unlike any conventional park with green trees, lazy benches, seasonal flowers and sparkling ponds, here everything is replicated by miniature roads, pavements, traffic lights, zebra crossings, a foot-over bridge, and even a yellow bus stand!

On arriving, the little visitors were cordially received by the coordinators who showed them around and explained the basic road signs, signals and traffic rules. Children were excited to see the fabricated pedestrian pathways, roads, bus stand, traffic lights, and a display board that decodes dozens of road signs and symbols. It was an enriching experience for the children as they learnt about the use of footpaths, foot-over bridges and zebra crossings. They were made to cross the road using the zebra crossing. They also got a chance to cross the foot over bridge independently, steadily making it to the other side! An interactive session on the importance of wearing a helmet while riding a two wheeler, fastening the car seat belt at all times, avoiding the use of cell phones while driving, not to ride zig-zag, not to jump a red light, and not to over speed held the attention of the students and they waited to go home and tell their parents about what heard! Last but not the least the children enjoyed sandwiches and cutlets before boarding the buses back to School. Overall, the field trip was a fruitful one for both children and teachers alike!
