National Endangered Species Day observed across the classes

We all have a responsibility to protect endangered species, both for their sake and for the sake of our own future generations.” – Loretta Lynch

Keeping the above in mind, The Indian School- Second Shift celebrated National Endangered Species with various activities at the different grade levels, to sensitise students about these species which are at the verge of becoming extinct.

The students of class 3 articulated the need to preserve and raise awareness of the continued plight of endangered species through a hand printing activity. It was a combination of art with spreading awareness of a cause.

The students of class 4 enunciated the importance of endangered species, making posters on the various species that play a vital role in the ecology. Students used their art skills in his activity,  where they learned how the circle of life is broken by the persisting killing and poaching of animals for their rare features.

To celebrate Endangered Species Day, the students of class 5 were sensitised about the importance of every living being on this planet. They made posters inspired by the book “Don’t Let Them Disappear” by Chelsea Clinton.

The students of classes 6 and 7 held a classroom discussion on  various endangered species that are on the verge of becoming extinct and the reasons for their meagre numbers left in the world. They also spoke about measures to protect these species from becoming extinct.

Class 8 learnt the difference between vulnerable, endangered and extinct species through an interactive activity. They also studied the various measures taken by the government to save endangered animals from becoming extinct, with special reference to India's Project Tiger.

Lastly, as we know various species of animals which have been recognised as endangered by the changes happening in their natural habitat. However, changes in human behaviour can still help to save this precious wildlife.
