National Constitution Day and White Revolution Day activities in Middle School

26th November is that special day in the history of India when we recall two profound leaders, who had immense contribution in shaping India, namely Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar and Dr Verghese Kurien. The occasion is also called named National Law Day and National Milky Day or White Revolution Day

National Constitution Day was declared in the year which marked the 125th birth anniversary of Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar, chairman of the Drafting Committee of the Indian constitution. On this day the Indian Constitution was adopted by the Constituent Assembly in 1949. It was in 2015 that the Government of India decided to establish November 26 as Constitution Day to reinforce the importance of constitutional values amongst citizens.

As a part of the activity planned on the occasion, the students of class 8 of The Indian School-Second Shift undertook a classroom discussion about its importance and relevance in 0today’s times. The students of class 7 made posters on Dr Ambedkar, his life and cobtribution, as a tribute to him.

Dr Verghese Kurien is called the father of the “white revolution” in India. Operation Flood is the programme that led to this. It created a national milk grid linking producers throughout India to consumers in over 700 towns and cities and reducing seasonal and regional price variations. It also ensured that producers are assured of a major share of the profit by eliminating the middleman. It started with the motive of increasing milk production to make the country one of the largest producers of milk in the world. Operation Flood is the programme that led to the “White Revolution.”

The students of class 6 made posters and cards on Milky Day. As their stage of growth, milk is extremely important and its abundant availability has been possible by the conrribution of Dr V Kurien.

A glowing tribute of the future citizens of India, namely, our young students to these two great national heroes, is therefore much in place.
