Meet the Author Session At TFS

The Indian School-Second Shift organised a Meet The Author session for classes 2 to 5 on 15 November, 2016. The author of the book Polytrap, Ms. Nita Ganguly began the session by playing a game - I spy with my little eye in which riddles were asked and the children answered eagerly. She narrated the story of Willy the seahorse and his mother who went around the ocean and found it floating with polybags. A song based on the book, about various sea animals was also sung by her which the children repeated and enjoyed, immensely!

She spoke to the children about the harmful effects of using polythene bags and throwing garbage in the sea. She also spoke about the formation of the Great Garbage Patch in the Pacific Ocean and its effect on aquatic animals. When we think of solutions to solve environmental problems, the three R s come to mind-REDUCE, REUSE and RECYCLE. Here, Ms. Ganguly pointed that we need to stress on the word RETHINK the mose.

The session ended with the author asking the children to rethink on what more can be done to save our precious Mother Earth.
