Mask making workshop

Maskbook hosted a Do it yourself mask-making workshop on 21st December 17 for the students The Indian School-Second Shift. Over 50 students made masks at the workshop.

The workshop could not have come at a better time. Delhi has been in the headlines of every major news publication across the globe because of its record levels of air pollution. The toxic conditions in the capital led the Indian Medical Association to declare a public health emergency. Other Indian cities are also at risk out of the worlds 20 most polluted cities, half of them are located in India!

As a participatory, artistic and civil action project on health, air pollution and global warming, Maskbook's India workshop series brought together over 1,000 participants in Delhi and Bengalaru and "upcycled" more than 25 kg of waste to make masks.

A beautifully designed upcycled mask using waste material was made by each student present at the workshop. The children created personalised masks with a message that they wanted to convey about the current air quality situation in their city.

Such amazing creativity on display- truly a pleasure to work with such enthusiastic young minds and the energetic team from the organisation, Art of Change 21.
