On 14th January 2016 , an in-house workshop on Literacy for early learners was organised for the teachers of The Indian School-Second Shift, to enhance teaching methodologies and aid efficient learning. The focus was the overall development of the child in sync with the individual ability level.
Different activities for the development of listening, speaking, reading and writing skills were discussed and steps to enhance these skills were suggested like word study, reading aloud, guided reading, independent reading and shared reading. Activities that engage and engross children when they have completed class work were also shared by the teachers of The Indian School. For example by assigning individual tasks like picture book-making, making things with plasticine , worksheets etc. The workshop was very well received and we look forward to incorporate these activities for a continuous and robust teaching-learning process.
