Library Week 2016 in the Pre Primary Celebrating 100 Years of Roald Dahl.

Library Week, observed between 17th and 22nd October, 2016 was composed of numerous activities to mark the 100th birth anniversary of Roald Dahl the worlds greatest storyteller. The Pre-school and Pre-Primary department at TFS took up two of his greatest works and reflected on the characters that he brought to the page and, by extension, on screen.
When it comes to Roald Dahl, theres a lot to celebrate, particularly about his childrens books, many of which have been successfully adapted for screen and stage.The primary objective of observing library week at School was to urge young ones to inculcate the habit of reading.The various activities conducted across the week were:
Pre-School: Story Charlie and the Chocolate Factory
Day 1 Introduction of the story using puppets at the assembly. Teaching children the song Dont watch TV, Read! Read! Read!
Day 2 Willy Wonka colouring worksheet and recap of the story in class
Day 3 Chocolate making by children
Day 4 Chocolate wrapping; screening of the movie (Charlie and the Chocolate Factory) in the AV Room
Day 5 Picture book reading
Day 6 Enactment of the story by children dressed as candy, chocolate, a lollipop, and the various characters of the story (Willy Wonka, Charlie, Mike, Augustus, Oompa Loompas, etc.)

Pre-Primary: Story The Magic Finger
Day 1 Introduction of Roald Dahl along with story-telling
Day 2 Creating animals and birds (pigs, butterfly, crow, etc.) with finger printing and with numbers
Day 3 Medley of rhymes relating to animals (Old Mc Donald, Walking through the Jungle, etc.)
Day 4 Presenting a medley of rhymes in the assembly and animal bookmark-making
Day 5 PPT on animals
The Library Week was a great learning experience for both children and teachers alike, as it not only engaged the little ones in several fun-filled activities, but also reminded us that books are indeed mans best friend. Even 100 years after his birth, its never too late to discover an author as magical.
