Library Week 2016

Library Week was observed from 17th to 21st October 2016. This year,being Roald Dahls centenary, the activities were planned with his books in mind.

The movie, Charlie And the Chocolate Factory was screened for classes 1 to 5. The movie is an adaptation of a book by Roald Dahl. The story features the adventures of young Charlie inside the chocolate factory of an eccentric chocolatier Willy Wonka.

Students read different stories and poems by Dahl and created book covers. They discussed the stories in class.

With Diwali round the corner, Ms. Sonia Duggal from Harper Collins shared the story of Hanukkah, the Jewish festival of lights and explained its significance. She also acquainted the students with the different signs of Hannukah like the menorah, driedel and even concluded the session with students crafting the menorah and kinorah, a seven candle holder.

Class II conducted a special assembly as their humble homage to the great writer. A short biography of his life was shared and a few children spoke about some of his books, they read during the week- James and the Giant Peach, Matilda, Mr. Fox, Charlie and and the Chocolate Factory and The Three Witches.

Alvira of class III recited one of his popular poems Crocky Wock the Crocodile. The assembly ended with a group of children representing Oompa Loompas , dancing to the famous song from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.
