Lets recycle for all its worth!

Did you know that recycling one aluminium can saves enough energy to run a TV for three hours? Its the same with all the paper and packaging material you throw away. Recycling one ton of paper can save 17 trees!! All the shopping bags, plastic bags, plastic bottles that we just throw away, can be recycled 100%. Our behaviour and habits affect animals too as they end up eating this plastic. One of the most daunting polluters of our city is waste. Unless we learn to manage our waste, our city will become a landfill! And the first step to waste management is segregation of waste.

The students at The Indian School-Second Shift are all set to RECYCLE! On 12th April2016, Pom Pom conducted a workshop for the children, explaining the importance of recycling in order to manage waste effectively. Pom Pom is an organisation that accepts and pays you for recyclable trash. The children were shown through digital animation the materials that they can recycle and how to segregate recyclable material.

The Indian School-Second Shift has taken the initiative to associate with Pom Pom and reduce our waste. Two bins in each classroom will aid in collection of waste as dry and wet. The housekeeping staff has also been trained to help segregate the waste into the two categories. The dry waste which is the recyclable waste will be picked up by Pom Pom for recycling. The money thus collected shall be used as Shramdaan proceeds. We are doing our bit to save our planet and make it a better place for the future generations. Lets reduce, reuse and recycle more and more.
