Jugalbandi 2018

Jugalbandi 2018 was proudly hosted by The Indian School-Second Shift with a flourish, for the second consecutive year on 30th October. Jugalbandi is an Inter School primary level competition of dance and music with the participation of numerous Delhi schools. This year the theme of the competition was States along the Eastern Coast of India. The dance and song entries were to be a fusion of any 2 styles from the regions!   The programme began with a lively welcome song and felicitations to the guests with potted plants in an eco friendly spirit. The competition comprised 2 events Rendezvous ( dance) and Tarang ( music). Delightful fusion innovations followed based on the theme integrating the folk traditions of the long coast! [gallery link="none" ids="17494,17495,17496,17497,17498,17499"] The judges were exponents of dance and music, namely Ms. Arundhati Bhattacharya and Mr. Gulshan Kumar for music and Ms. Divya Gosami Dikshit and Ms. Ayesha Hassanwalia for dance.   Soon we began with the competitions. Both the venues- the auditorium and the AV Room were ablaze with talent! It was tantalising for the audience to juggle the opportunities, so not to miss either event or any team! Each team outdid itself and the previous with the concept, its research and its delivery! Exciting compositions of dance blended Odissi with Santhal, Maillattam of Tamil Nadu with Baul of West Bengal among several others. There was a blend of costumes, music and dance, all set to a great choreography and in the spirit of congenial competitiveness. The presentations were both artistic as well as innovative.   Tarang was also a lilting line-up of folk songs researched from the areas covered by the theme. There were exciting mixes of Oriya, Telugu, Bengali and Tamil!   The judges would have found their brief very hard. But as protocol demanded, the results were tabulated even as anticipation filled the little hearts.   Result:   Rendezvous   The Winners Trophy was won by The Indian School-Second Shift and the Runners up Trophy was won by R.S. Junior Modern School. However as per the tradition at our School, being host school, The Indian School-Second Shift, passed over the trophy to R.S. Junior Modern School.
