Janmashtmi celebrations at School

The festival of Janmashtami was celebrated with great zeal and pomp by our tiny tots this year.

Krishna Janmashtami is also known as Krishnashtami, Saatam Aatham, Gokulashtami, Ashtami Rohini, Srikrishna Jayanti, Sree Jayanti. Celebrated on the eighth day of the month of Savana, Janmashtami marks the birth of Lord Krishna, an avatar of Lord Vishnu.

Students of PS Robin and PP Swan presented a special assembly to depict a scene from the Krishna leela. They looked adorable dressed as Krishna , Radha and the Gopis. The scene they presented was one of young Krishna teasing his mother and the gopis and stealing all the butter with his cowherd friends. The children donned peacock feather head gear and carried decorated matkas and flutes.

By turn some of the children can up to speak about Lord Krishnas place of birth and how we celebrate the festival in different parts of the country.

Another group of students danced to the tune of "Go go Govinda" followed by a beautiful song "Chota sa mandir banayenge". Everyone joyfully joined in. The assembly and celebration concluded with Makhanbhog where everyone had a taste of butter and kheer!

The celebrations continued on 14th August, when a dahi handi hung aloft in the skating rink was upturned to shower goodies for all! The delightful shower was a perfect conclusion of the celebration.
