International Tiger Day observed in the Primary classes

International Tiger Day is observed every year on July 29 kvzto raise awareness about this magnificent but endangered royal animal. Alarmingly, wild tiger numbers dropped by more than 95% since the beginning of the 20th century. Consequently, this day was founded in 2010 at the Saint Petersburg Tiger Summit in Russia, when the 13 tiger range countries came together to create 'Tx2', i.e. the global goal to double the number of wild tigers by the year 2022

Since 2010, all these countries have been working to help secure a viable future for wild tigers. In recent years, with crucial support from local communities and commitment from various governmental bodies, the decline in global tiger numbers has halted. Now, for the first time in conservation history, their numbers are on the rise.

The tiny tots of The Indian School - Second Shift celebrated International Tiger Day with a lot of zeal and enthusiasm. The little ones from Pre school to class 2 enjoyed a variety of activities on this day.

The Pre school children did craft work with paper plates and painted tigers on them. They also watched an animated short movie, "Let's Save Bobby, Save Tigers", based on the theme of protecting this animal.

The Pre primary students joyously made finger puppets of tigers and skillfully sketched drawings of these majestic creatures to celebrate International Tiger Day. Their creative efforts not only fostered an appreciation for wildlife conservation but also provided an enjoyable and educational experience for the young learners.

Class 1 students did origami tiger face craft. They folded the origami sheet and drew black stripes on the sides to create the tiger face. While holding aloft their origami tigers, they shouted slogans.. ‘Shoot tigers with a camera, not with the gun!’ and ‘Fight for the right of the tigers!.’ Their teacher used storytelling to create awareness about the need to protect tigers from extinction.

In class 2, pupils celebrated Tiger Day with great excitement! The kids showcased their love for tigers by crafting amazing tiger masks, donning the masks and speaking a few lines each about tigers. It was a fun and educational way to raise awareness about tiger conservation. Roaring with joy, they pledged to protect these magnificent creatures and their habitats!

The objective of celebrating this day with the young ones was to inculcate in them, from a tender age, an awareness regarding tigers being a vulnerable species, who need to be protected and conserved and to develop curiosity and sensitivity in them towards wildlife and nature. Through these activities, the children learnt fun facts about tigers and understood that this striped friend also loves his natural habitat, and we are the ones who need to protect the environment to give a safe home to them. It was an inspiring journey for the future generation towards becoming responsible stewards of our natural world.
