Interaction with School Chairman on Sardar Patel

5th February, 2019 shall remain etched in our memories as on this day, we, the students of classes 4,5,6 and 7 had the opportunity of interacting with our honourable School chairman Mr. Prafull Goradia. He spoke on one of Indias greatest heroes of the freedom struggle- Sardar Patel.

Sir commenced the session by introducing Sardar Patel as the bravest man and highlighted his leading role in guiding the integration of several princely states into a united independent nation.

Goradia Sir also wove the series of events from the Sardars childhood as an amazing story and also shared pictures of the same. Sardar Patel was a man of his words. His childhood was very humble, but it showed signs of his strong character and will.

Vallabhbhai Patel was born on October 31, 1875 in Nadiad village of modern day Gujarat to Zaverbhai and Ladbai. His father had served in the army of the Queen of Jhansi while his mother was a very spiritual woman.

Starting his academic career in a Gujarati medium school, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel later shifted to an English medium school. Vallabhbhai passed his high school and started preparing for law examination. He went to pursue a degree in law and travelled to England in 1910. He completed his law degree at the Inns of Court and came back to India to start his practice in Godhra, Gujarat.

While Sir was narrating this story, it seemed as if we were experiencing each and every moment!

Sir also described how Sardar Patel has left behind a rich legacy of unity and integrity. To therefore honour him, the Statue of Unity was erected next to the Sardar Sarovar Dam on the Narmada. It is the tallest statue with a height of 182 metres.

As we know, the Sardar was bestowed with the Bharat Ratna posthumously.

We left for our classes happy and content to know about one of the architects of modern India. We look forward to more such interactive sessions with Chairman Sir.
