INTACH online storytelling session for class 5

“To those who say put, the world is but an imaginary place. But to the movers, the makers, and the shakers, the world is all around and an endless invitation for you, to begin your exploration”.

The invisible thread that binds us all together as one, is our Heritage and Culture. This special connection keeps us all grounded. Countries mostly differ from one another in aspects of culture and heritage and the discovery and exploration of new places is what initiated this INTACH HECS Online Storytelling Workshop on Tuesday, 8 September 2020. The session was held from 2:30 to 3:30 pm for the students of class V and was conducted on Zoom.

Captivating  children's imaginations, was well-known storyteller, Ms. Ritu Parnassus Ghosh. The story told was that of a child's journey to Meghalaya. Various schools were a part of this session. Ms. Purnima Datt, Principal Director of Heritage Education and Communication Service also interacted with the students.

Through the story, the various dimensions of Meghalaya's heritage were highlighted and thereby the students got introduced to the heritage of the state in a fun, interactive and informative session. Students immersed themselves in the illustrations drawn by one of the artists present. The session drove home to the children the importance of our roots.

Along the "expedition", the children were thrown little questions and they happily drew images of what they imagined as their answers! Meghalaya vividly came alive in the illustrations of the children and truly represented all aspects of its precious heritage.

This well-integrated session involving Art, History, reading and learning made the participants eager to be part of similar workshops more often!

The session concluded on a note of good faith to immerse in the gracious values of our ancestors.
