Independence Day celebrations across the classes

“India is the cradle of the human race, the birthplace of human speech, the mother of history, the grandmother of legend, and the great-grandmother of tradition."

Mark Twain

This year, Independence Day was celebrated as the 77th Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav with great enthusiasm, by the students of The Indian School-Second Shift. A sense of pride and happiness was seen on their faces while performing the various activities to mark this.

Pre School had a wonderful and enthusiastic way of celebrating Independence Day. They honoured our national heroes, handcrafted kites and learnt patriotic songs to help instill a sense of pride and understanding of their country's history and values.

Pre primary dressed up as India's freedom fighters and spoke a few lines about the freedom struggle. They were also told that India could not have become independent without the sacrifices of numerous extraordinary freedom fighters. The children crafted tricolour flags using handprints, making it a truly patriotic day.

Students of class 1 celebrated this day by making tricolour kites. They were made aware of the significance of the three colours and the Ashoka Chakra. Patriotic songs like ‘Saare Jahan se Achha, Hindustan Hamara’ and ‘Desh Hamara Sabka Pyara’ were also sung in class.

Students of class 3 made tricolour caps to celebrate India's freedom and to remember the sacrifices that were made to achieve it. Emphasis was laid on celebrating our country's freedom after a long struggle and numerous sacrifices.
