Independence Day Celebration
“Freedom is never dear at any price. It is the breath of life. What would a man not pay for living?”
- Mahatma Gandhi
Every year we relive the moment and enjoy the spirit of freedom at our Independence Day celebrations. In a feeling of patriotism, the Pre School and Pre Primary students made tricolour kites to commemorate the occasion. Indeed, it was a day of joy, a day of love and respect for our motherland.
Students of class I celebrated India’s 75 years of independence with a hands-on activity. They recycled ice-cream sticks by colouring them saffron, white and green and attached the handpainted Tiranga. Class 2 students painted tricolour balloons. Classes 3 and 4 students portrayed our freedom fighters in an enigmatic monologue. They also crafted tricolour bookmarks depicting the deep meaning of the colours of our national flag.
Class 5 celebrated the occasion by integrating math with art to paint our national flag. Students enthusiastically participated in a patriotic song competition.
A special assembly was held on August 12, 2022. The occasion was introduced by comperes, Rudvik and Niyanta. Headmistress Ms Sheeja Menon honoured the students for their performance in the Olympiads.
An invocation to Lord Ganesha by Riddhi and Siddhi of class 8 was followed by an address by Head Boy Alankar Mishra and Head Girl Alvira Imam. The assembly then sang patriotic songs which filled the hall with new spirit and spontaneity.
A quiz was initiated by Mohd Nouman and Kritika of classes 1 and 2. Mahatma Gandhi, the father of our nation, helped us attain independence through Ahimsa. Through a dance by Vishakha Majumdar of class 9 we remembered and celebrated his ideals and teachings. The valour of our soldiers was also expressed well through song. The students of classes 3 to 9 were called upon the stage for a patriotic song performance.
Freedom fighters were people who sacrificed their lives selflessly for the freedom of their country. Every country has its fair share of freedom fighters. Alishba, Noor, Zoha and Vansh of class 3 dressed as freedom fighters spoke impressive and informative lines about freedom fighters. Katyayani and Manmoyee of class 4 recited a poem appreciating the country. This was followed by a dance performance by the students of classes 5 to 8 to salute our brave soldiers who laid their lives to protect our motherland during the Kargil war. The show concluded with students singing the School song followed by the national anthem.
Ms Menon complimented the children and the teachers for the festive performance. She emphasised the value of responsibility, compassion and independence. The colourful presentation received a well deserved applause from the audience. Indeed, it was a day of jubilation and pride instilling values and reverence in the heart of every young Indianite.
