Honour at HEPATITIS DAY activities
‘A hepatitis-free future is achievable with a united effort’
Hepatitis Day is observed every year by the Government of NCT-Delhi to increase awareness among the general public about the menace of viral Hepatitis. Hepatitis is an inflammation of the liver that can cause a range of health problems and can even be fatal.
In order to prevent and to provide care services for patients of Hepatitis, measures such as infant immunisation, harm reduction services and continuous treatment of chronic Hepatitis B, are essential even during the pandemic.
The Indian School-Second Shift participated in the 23rd Hepatitis Day Programme held by the ILBS (Institute of Liver and Biliary Sciences, Vasant Kunj), on 4 December, 2020. Here, they initiated various student-centric programmes and competitions such as Poster Making on the topic-‘Viral Hepatitis in Covid times’.
Our Anshika Priya Patel of class 7 received the Consolation Prize in the Poster Making competition using her creative skills at drawing. The competition also involved the SDGs and their importance for an all round sustainability.
This was followed by a Virtual Pledge chain as well as the Launch of Hepi School 2.0 by Education Minister, Mr Manish Sisodia. WHO is calling upon all countries to work together to eliminate Hepatitis as a public health threat. The event was a success in lending new awareness amongst the student community of the dreaded disease Viral Hepatitis.
