Homage on Indian Army Day

Army Day is celebrated on 15 January every year, in honour of Lieutenant General Kodandera M. Cariappa taking over as the first Commander-in-Chief of the Indian Army from General Francis Roy Bucher, the last British Commander-in-Chief of India, on 15 January 1949.

The day is celebrated to honour our country's soldiers, who set the most exceptional example of selfless service and brotherhood, and above all, love for the country. From the icy heights of the Himalayas to the scorching heat of the desert, they guard us day and night.

Students at The Indian School-Second Shift dedicated this day to our brave soldiers by conducting various activities at the different class levels.

Students of class 3  made posters to pay homage to the courageous Indian soldiers who sacrificed their lives to protect our country. Expressing profound gratitude to the Indian army, their sacrifices were highlighted in zeal and pride.

In class 4, teachers told stories of heroism from the Indian army. The students then paid tribute to the gallant soldiers through various activities such as poem writing and poster-making.

To mark the significance of this day, class 5 shared their views about how we can all serve our nation. They drew vibrant sketches and wrote inspiring slogans to show respect and gratitude for the Indian army.

The sSltudents of class 6 engaged in a classroom discussion on the various heroic stories behind the medals of honour. This activity ingrained in them, new pride for our beloved soldiers. Martyred soldiers are the greatest heroes of our motherland and remembering them on this special day is the duty of all Indians.

Our nation’s protection and safety are totally dependent on our soldiers. We must respect and salute the Indian army for their great sacrifices to keep our country together and safe.
