Happy Mothers Day, Mom!

Your arms were always open when I needed a hug. Your heart understood when I needed a friend. Your gentle eyes were stern when I needed a lesson. Your strength and love has guided me and gave me wings to fly. A mothers selfless love and care is pivotal in nurturing a child, and there could not be a more universal celebration than the one that celebrates the accomplishments and efforts of every mother. Keeping this bonding in mind, the Preschool and Pre-Primary classes of The Indian School-Second Shift celebrated Mothers Day on 7th May 2016. Going by the School-theme for the year Africa, the mothers came enthusiastically clad in spectacular African and Afrocentric ethnic attires! And were the children excited to see them! That indeed set the tone for the afternoon! The tiny tots warmly welcomed their moms with a medley of songs, 'I Love you Mommy, I Love You, You Love Me, and Happy Mothers Day to You. The melting melody of the little voices was followed by a vigorous dance choreographed to the popular Kenyan pop song Jumbo BwanaHakuna Matata, once again connecting with the theme, Africa. The children looked utterly endearing as they jiggled-and-wiggled to the peppy music! Next on the schedule was a quick round of brain- teasers for our dear mothers, which further engaged and occupied the gathering. The playful atmosphere was again transfused with melody by our little ones, who gleefully sang Bam Chik Bam Bam, and the smiles only stretched as the sentiments surfed. The Lollipop Song had students spin magic in the audience with their wonderful performance. Head Teacher, Ms. Susan Thomas offered a heartwarming welcome congratulating all the mothers on their special day and emphasised upon the timeless values of selflessness and affection, so ingrained in a mother's bond with her child. To make the celebration even more special, an interesting game Designer Beads for Mom was planned, where mothers were invited on the stage with their children to participate in some fun-filled activities. A Best Costume prize was the privilege of the most African attired moms and many walked away with the prizes as their efforts made all of them winners! They were felicitated with small potted plants from the School nursery. After a vote of thanks, the preschoolers presented their mothers a handcrafted potpourri bag made by them using dried rose petals, as a token of their affection. Many misty eyes were witnessed when the tiny tots handed over the potpourri and hugged their moms! Ms. Kritika Negi.
